The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC) and The Canadian Council of The Blind (CCB) are collaborating to facilitate virtual public consultations to review and gather feedback on the recently released draft standards by the BC Accessibility Directorate.
The two standards--Service Delivery and Employment--will be reviewed separately which should make things more manageable for everyone. Each consultation is planned for two hours in length, however, if more time is required we will continue with participants who are available to remain in the session.
Who is invited: The consultations are not limited to members of our organizations--anyone who has an interest in contributing feedback related to persons who are blind, deafblind and partially sighted is welcome to attend. (No registration necessary.) This could include caregivers, business owners or a neighbour wanting to be involved.
Please review the standards documents before our sessions. Reading the documents ahead of the consultations will prepare you for the discussions and help assess if you want to recommend changes. https://engage.gov.bc.ca/accessiblebcactstandards/resources-faq/
